India is home to many natural and artificial lakes that elevate the experience of certain cities. In fact, these cities and their beauty somehow depend on these charming lakes. Here are the top lake cities in the country.

Udaipur owes its glamorous look to the beautiful Lake Pichola. Everything about this lake and is surroundings scream beauty. The lake takes centrestage in this city in Rajasthan, and is a one-of-a-king experience, thanks to the palace, and other beautiful structures. This artificial lake was created in 1362 AD.

The city in Madhya Pradesh is known as the City of Lakes, so you can very well imagine the lake experiences you will have here. It is home to a couple of natural and artificial lakes, and you will find your experiences touched by beauty and grace. The Upper Lake is certainly the most important ones as far as tourist experiences are concerned.

Talking about lakes, you cannot possibly skip Srinagar. The beautiful Dal Lake is the most important attraction here. Surrounded by hills, the Dal Lake in Srinagar is one of the most charming lakes in the country. The most amazing part about this lake is that it takes on different look in accordance to the season.

This is Uttarakhand's classic hill town experience, and the Naini Lake is one of the best you will ever visit. It is a major attraction of Nainital, and like most other wonderful lakes, you can go boating here. One of the best things to do would be to book a lake facing hotel, and you can also see the Naina peak on the northwest side.

The Kodai Lake in the city of Kodaikanal is a beauty, and many of its experiences revolve around it. Located in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India, Kodaikanal is one of the best getaways for dreamy travellers. There are rowing boats, and pedaling boats available for public here in the hill town of Kodaikanal.

Sometimes we tent to forget that Maharashtra is so much more than just the city of Mumbai. Take Powai for example. It is situated just 30 minutes outside of Mumbai, and it is a whole different world. The city's Powai Lake is a wonderful place for some peace and quiet. Surrounded by hills, Powai Lake is magnificent. It was built back in 1799 AD.
